Another obligatory post about Alexa Chung’s new collection for Madewell. In my eyes Alexa can do no wrong, but is anyone else not that impressed with the collection? The only thing I really wanted was the black and white gingham dress Tennessee Thomas is wearing above, but the Madewell at South Coast Plaza didn’t have it. And forget about getting it online. Even this dress is a little too simple for $136.
I was sort of interested in the leopard booties I kept seeing her wear in ads, but on the Madewell site they look kind of cheap. They’re sold out anyways. Don’t ask me why I want a pair of leopard booties when I’ve never worn leopard print in my life. Another pair I’ve had my eye on for quite some time is by Boden USA.

Aren’t the Boden boots much better? They’ve got a wooden heel, cowboy stitching, and the print is more leopardy. I’m seriously considering getting these. They’re so unlike me, but Alexa makes leopard boots look so easy. I can just imagine bundling up with my black toggle coat, tights, and these beauties. Did I mention I already bought the exact same style of booties, but in black? Art is gonna be so annoyed if he sees another box in the mail, but winter is coming. I need black, brown, and now leopard boots for this season. But, I’ve also been eying these loafer heels from Madewell.

I tried on these heels at Madewell and they were so sturdy and comfortable. These shoes are much more me, but something is telling me to go for the leopard boots! What do you think?

I really want a new dress. This Moschino Cheap & Chic dress worn by Keira Knightly would be nice. I really want to cut my hair short like hers, but my face would look too chubby. My hair right now is a rat’s nest that is impossible to comb out everyday, but I’d probably cry if I cut it. I guess I have to live through Keira’s portrait cause that dress and cute haircut are way out of my range.
I’ve read a lot of criticism over this being too perverted, but I just love this ad of Dakota Fanning for Marc Jacob’s Oh Lola. It’s so pretty! The dress is a dream and Dakota is gorgeous. I really want this perfume, even though I hardly ever wear perfume. In fact, I hate most perfumes and disliked the original Lola, but I smelled this yesterday at Nordstrom and I was pleasantly surprised. Lola smelled too old and mature to me, but Oh Lola is very girly. Much sweeter and flowery. And you know how much I like both sweets and florals.
Since I’m not sure what to write about after being gone for so long and I said I’d post a pic of the little jacket I made in my last post, here’s a pic of Henry wearing my jacket. You can’t see all of it very well, but it is kind of hard to create a fashion editorial when the model is a cat.
I turned my first project in my sewing class in on Thursday. It was a tiny jacket that could fit one of those little monkeys or a teddy bear. My instructor kept everyone’s jacket to grade, but as soon as I get mine back I’ll post a picture of it. I’m hoping to get Henry to model it! I was pretty stressed in the last half hour I had left to turn it in. I feel a little uneasy about what kind of grade I’ll get, but that’s just me being nerdy. It was really difficult and I’m just glad I got something that resembled a jacket done.
I went a little crazy and bought a bunch of patterns since the Butterick patterns at Joann’s Fabrics are only 99 cents this weekend! Somehow I think I’m going to be able to magically sew whole outfits together. Butterick doesn’t have a large selection of stylish patterns, but they do sell a lot of patterns for historical costumes that seem fun. I bought the Victorian nightie pattern above so I can make a cute dress/nightie for myself, shortened of course. I also bought some dress patterns and baby clothes patterns so I can attempt to make a baby shower present. I almost bought a pattern for a Victorian corset that looked so pretty, but then I thought where the heck am I going to wear an old corset?
In other news, I really want a basket purse. I went with Art to Michael’s today and I spent the whole time looking at easter baskets. I thought about buying one and using it as a purse, like Jane Birkin did, but I had to stop myself. I think Art was a little embarrassed by the idea and I’m no Jane Birkin.
What do you think of using a basket as a purse? Is it crazy or sort of charming. I’d love to find a more purse version like this so I don’t feel like such a basket case.

I know these shoes by Jeffrey Campbell are ugly and dumb, but they’re also kind of amazing. Don’t you think?
